Continuing with the work started by the SASA scholars of 2011, the ultimate aim is to improve and cater for the educational needs of orphans and other underprivileged or special needs kids. As of 2012, SASA has taken four homes under its wing:
Each home is visited twice a week by our scholars (around 10 to 12 different scholars going for each visit) who have volunteered their time and effort to teach and guide the children in their studies.
The kids we’re visiting are mainly orphans or were abandoned by their parents at a young age. Among their number, certain kids have learning difficulties (e.g. dyslexia) and require more specialised teaching and study material than is currently available to them. Our charges, who are in the age range of 5 to 21(special needs), need all the help they can get to improve not only the quality of their education, but their living premises as well.
Besides teaching, our scholars are working on raising funds in order to provide the children with a more conducive environment for study. As such, the SASA scholars have set out to raise a total of RM 50,000.00 for the year of 2012 which will be spread across all four homes, and used to purchase necessary materials, appliances and furnishing to allow the children to study more comfortably and effectively.
In light of their need, we’re planning to host a charity run to raise funds for them. To do so, however, we will need as much help as we can in terms of sponsorship and publicity to make the fundraising run successful. It is worthy to note that 100% of the proceeds will be channelled equally to all four homes, which will be used to buy appliances/educational material/furniture and creating a good home for them. Sponsors may be allowed to set up booths and banners at the event itself (depending on availability), and have their logos printed on the back of our event shirt. Since our event is for charity, it’s also tax deductible!
If you would like to sponsor us, donate or help out in any way (we’re not short on manpower though), please do contact me.
