This year at Punarnava was my third visit. It was a lucky find. The doctor in charge here was a key speaker at a conference and I was already looking for Ayurveda, Indias traditional medicine and older than Chinese natural methods. Staying in India at a licenced Ayurveda hospital is a more expensive option. Most of the patients are Malay residents, and the great majority are of Indian or Chinese background. Its also possible for a foreigner to be treated as an outpatient, but the emphasis is on treatments which are unusual in our experience, or which seem rather unexciting at first. There is a lot of emphasis on healing oils. This can seem messy at first. The effect is positive over time. Budget hotels are not great in KL; but you need to be close if you are having more demanding treatments (enemas, etc.), as patients should rest quietly and keep sun/ heat/ stress to a minimum. There are 2 doctors available (a married couple), and two therapists, 1 male (for the men) and 1 female (for ladies). Separate toilet and shower for male and female. Due to their appointments out of town, you need to check availability carefully. Initial consultation with discussion is only around $10 USD, but a series of treatments (minimum 7 days for a usual course) will be over 30 USD/ day. Herbs and powders vary in price, and can be used alone. Doctor will decide, after discussion, what you need and you cant walk in and say, I want the XYZ method, as it may not be right for your case. The clinic is a home style setting, quite near the KL Sentral station, and run as a family practice, based on pure natural items fully imported from licensed Ayurveda pharmacies. There is another practice nearby, not related to this one. As well, you can access a small in and out patient Ayurveda hospital in KL but it is not on public transport. (Use a web search,) The doctors at Punarnava are fully qualified and part of a large community of conscious natural medical practice, which reaches very high levels of research in neurology, orthopaedics and more. Modern Ayurvedic medical literature is immense and complex. One doctor is also an expert in Carnatic and healing music. But you dont notice any of that when you come here. It is NOT run on strict lines of luxury towels, pampering, stainless steel trolleys and more. There is a relaxed and homely feel. In India this is normal. You might find that your consultation feels inconclusive. You need some trial and error to get it right. It is a give and take process, the beginning of a slow revolution, not for the faint hearted if you really want to be cured.

I did benefit from this one month treatment as my health conditions have improved and aches and pains have lessened and I am able to lead normal healthy life. Medicines and tablets are easy to consume and it has very well blended and I do recommend others to follow.
