Pangkor Laut Resort

We stayed on PLR Island resort for seven nights in June on holiday and it is a lovely, tranquil and peaceful place. Staff are wonderful and welcoming. Food is excellent. The garden villa we had was clean and spacious. Pool and bar area are nice and staff around pool very helpful and look after you. Beach is small but clean and nice sea/swimming area. Overall a beautiful place to stay if you want some true R&R but would not recommend to those who expect entertainment and activities.

We were very fortunate and pleased to be upgraded to a Spa villa suite, however did not have access to free wifi (like the garden and hill villas).There are a handful of restaurants on the island. A couple of the upmarket restaurants require strict dress code which is unfortunate if you haven't packed a suit or smart dressy attire (which perhaps when you're on a island in hot weather is the last thing you would think to wear?). We tried a couple of the more casual restaurants, food was very average and felt a tad industrial (as it's mostly imported). Music at breakfast was the same every morning and most depressing (they should really rethink their music selection). Day spa a little over priced. Well organised island with frequent shuttle buses to transport you around the island. Staff are lovely (as one would expect), and swimming beach is beautiful.

we managed to find 7 days passed so quickly on this peaceful island resort with our two teenage children. we went fishing, took the guided nature trails, used the great spa and well equipped gym. we loved the slow pace and chill time round the pool and beach, relaxing afternoons with a book on the terrace, as well as the good choice of restaurant options. the staff are the real jewel in the crown from the GM down to the hotel gardeners. we would avoid high week end holiday times next time we go, when the main areas are a little busy with week end vacationers, but that being said apart from the busy easter week end with 100pct occupancy, it was quiet, luxurious and we had a great time and would like to return. they have a good library of books in English to borrow. the drive from the nearest airport is 1.5hrs and then a short and fun boat trip to the island. they are working on improving wi fi to the rooms which will be a big help, since it is slightly unpredictable speed wise. do not take small children they get easily bored and annoy other guests

(February 2013) One the most extraordinary stay we had. So romantic, quite, private resort you'll find in whole Malaysia. The facilities including Villas, pools, beach, spa, restaurants, jungle, even staff and services are above five starts, and can be compared to, if not exceed, Maldives and Mauritius islands.It's latterly a Nature Reserve Island, so not allowed to feed, catch, and hit any creature there ** ( it doesn't mean that it's a zoo, no it's not, I'm just saying it's a reserve island so you'll enjoy the natural beautiful view). Although no TV or internet access (you can get online in the lobby which even have a small library and comfy seats) in Villas, but it add more intimate atmosphere and isolate you from the outer world noise and artifact, at least from my point of view. Don't miss the spa, I didn't experience such a spa before and till now.**Sea and Spa Villas are recommended to avoid insects and small reptiles that might be inconvenient in Garden and Hill Villas.
