Despite the importance of routine healthcare screening, in Malaysia, two most common reasons people need a medical check-up are Pre university health-screening and pre-marital health screening. Pre-university health screening actually consists of physical examination, chest x-ray, urine test, blood group test and also urine morphine & cannabinoids test. The total cost is only around RM 50 – RM 150 per person. Any additional test like liver & renal (kidneys) function and full blood count test, extra charges will be imposed. The results can be received within a day but for the blood test, the results usually takes around 1 to 2 days.
While the cost for Pre-Marital Screening is usually around RM 200 – RM 400 per person, there are also clinics that provide the package prices for the couples costing around RM 700 – RM 900. The tests include semen analysis, full blood count test, blood group test, urine FEME test, ultrasound, Rubella test and more. Basically, the cost for male pre-marital screening packages are cheaper than female and it only takes a few days to get the results, depending on the efficiency of the clinic.
The most basic tests for medical packages will include a chest x-ray, full blood count test, liver function test, renal function test and another few tests which will cost around RM 150 – RM 200 per person. The cost will be higher if it includes the tests on tumours, mammogram, Pap smear, ultrasound and more. It can cost around RM 400 – RM 1500 per person.
