YSIS was established in 1982 as a non-profit, non-governmental voluntary charitable organization to cater to the rehabilitation of children and adults with disabilities. From humble beginnings of just 4 persons with disabilities in a dilapidated building 32 years ago, todate YSIS has registered some 7818 clients seeking rehabilitative care for some form of disability. Part of our initial expansion programme in the ninties has also been the establishment of 12 individual Community Based Rehabilitation Centres throughout the state of Perak to serve people with disabilities especially children in the rural areas. This was to ease their burden of finance and the difficulties of having to travel long distance to the city with a disability, in public buses and taxis.
YSIS is officially registered as a foundation providing rehabilitative care for children and adults with disabilities as well as a skills training center. two centers directly under its wings are Persatuan Pemulihan Sultan Azlan Shah, Bercham and Persatuan Pemulihan Sultan Azlan Shah, City Centre.
