The Nasi Lemak Project is a movement to eradicate poverty through youth volunteerism and social entrepreneurship. We benefit 5 urban communities around Kuala Lumpur, some 200 homeless people in our database and various youth-at-risk communities in Kuala Lumpur and Ipoh, through free education programs, youth events and outreach.
Towards self sustainability, we are establishing The Nasi Lemak Project Social Enterprise to hire the urban poor and unemployed youths to cook and sell nasi lemak and various Malaysian delicacies around Kuala Lumpur. The profit will go towards funding our social impact projects.
The poor we hired will be resettled to have more stable jobs, and those with entrepreneurship flair will be groomed to be nasi lemak entrepreneurs. In a nutshell, we are just a bunch of youths who love nasi lemak, and do good along the way!
