SCI (Service Civil International) Malaysia is a non governmental, non profit, non religious, registered under the Malaysian Society Act, Peace organisation consisting of two branches in Penang and Kuala Lumpur.
The Penang group was founded in 1972 while the KL group was formed in 1984. Earlier activities were in the form of oversea volunteer placements to orphanages and handicapped homes supported by the IVS groups (England) in the early sixties.
Since then the groups have been engaged in Peace related activities and annually organize / participate in the Annual Penang SCI Peace run, Family day for the Disabled (KIOKU) in KL, Malaysian for Peace rally and International voluntary exchange programs.
As a group SCI brings together people of different nationalists and outlook to undertake useful voluntary work for the benefit of the community. Its aims is to create understanding and mutual respect between individual of all creeds and races so that the concept of violence become less and less acceptable and the degradation of human dignity impossible.
