罗斯玛华蒂教授坦言马来西亚的C型肝炎病毒感染病例一直在增加。C型肝炎病毒感染的患者若没有接受妥善治疗，将对生命造成危害，导致各种肝脏疾病，肝硬化，甚至是肝癌。罗斯玛教授也说新的治疗药物 Sovaldi (sofosbuvir) 和 Harvoni (ledipsavir/sofosbuvir) 能在更短的时间内治愈C型肝炎病毒感染患者，但是疗程价格不菲。

Dr. Rosmawati said Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver caused by 5 types of viruses A, B, C, D and E. While Hepatitis A and E are food and waterborne, Hepatitis B, C and D are transmitted via infected body fluids through parenteral contact. It is said that Hepatitis B can be 100 times more infectious than HIV.
