The Malaysian Social Research Institute (MSRI) is a non-governmental organisation currently dedicated to providing education, health, livelihood and emergency programmes to refugees and asylum seekers from minority communities living in Malaysia.
At present, there are approximately 5,764 individuals registered with MSRI. Our focus group comes mainly from the Middle Eastern, Central Asian and African regions, which include nationalities of Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Palestine, Syria, Pakistan, with a smaller number coming from other countries such as Somalia, Yemen, Sudan or Eritrea.
Our services focus on education, health, livelihood and emergency support. MSRI has 3 core programmes, namely an education programme for children (from 4 to 18 years of age) and adults, a family health programme offering primary healthcare, mental health and outreach services, and a community service programme offering vocational training, livelihood and support services ranging from emergency support to case management.
