Majlis Dato-Dato Negeri Pulau Pinang

The Majlis was founded by Dato' Teh Ewe Lim who was Speaker of the State Assembly from April 22 1982 to Julai 19 1986, under the leadership of Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu, then the Chief Minister of Penang. As Founder President, Tan Sri Teh Ewe Lim registered the Majlis in 1987 and elections were held in 1988 when Dato' Munsir Ariff became President. 

Dato' Mushir Ariff was President for 8 years from 1988 to 1996. Under the Constitution, every Penang Dato' can be a member. The membership of the Majlis has since grown to 505.
