Lycee Francais de Kuala Lumpur

When it opened its doors in 1962, for a handful of students, the French School of Kuala Lumpur was generously accommodated in the premises of the Alliance Française and no one could imagine then the rapid development that it would experience.

The first decade passed without any real change until 1974.  When it received regulatory approval from the Ministry of French National Education, the little French school had on its campus about twenty students from Grade One to Secondary One.   

Ten years later, numbers reached 42 students and this progression required the first move in 1983 to the Bukit Tunku district.

In the early 1990s, the French Schoolbecame a non-profit association and signed a convention with the Agency for French Schools Abroad (AEFE) at the same time obtaining regulatory approval for the lower secondary school classes (1996) and then the upper secondary classes (1997).

It was in 2003 that the Lycée Français of Kuala Lumpur really became established, offering an approved curriculum from kindergarten to Terminale.  It was then necessary to consider a move again and the construction this time of a purpose-built building.   

The first stone of the new Lycée Français was laid in 2004 at the current site of the school in Segambut and the official opening of this new infrastructure was in September 2005 for the 339 students at the time.

Today, the Lycée Français of Kuala Lumpur accommodates around 850 students from the Kindergarten to Terminale  in premises which have undergone a number of changes.
