A few years ago, my father went to Hospital Sentosa to remove his glaucoma, its a simple and small operation, I think my father didn't even stay for a night there.
The operation was a success, just wearing sunglasses for 2 days, and my father got his perfect eye sight back.
However, one thing that caught my attention is that when we enquire the cost of the operation, the staff actually ask whether we can paying it from our own pocket or insurance. We told him that we will be paying, not the insurer.
They quoted us about RM2k for everything, but this is just verbal. In fact, we do have insurance for this and submit all the documents to them before the operation, when it is done, we were surprise to see that the total cost is about RM4.5k, instead of RM2k.
Why the huge difference before and after the operation? We didn't actually ask, it could be that the staff gave the wrong quote in the first place, or like they said, hospital charge a higher price if you are claiming from insurance.
