HABIB’s humble beginnings date back to 1958 when our first shop was set up in Penang on the bustling Pitt Street, then known as “Jewelers' Corner”, by our founder Datuk Haji Habib Mohamed Abdul Latif. The little shop still stands today as a nostalgic reminder of how the journey of HABIB began.

From the start, HABIB did things differently. In the early years, at a time when gold was the mainstay of jewelers, we sold diamonds. There was also a strong presence of armed forces in Penang and before we knew it, we were selling coloured gemstones to American GIs!

From the bustling streets of the Pearl of the Orient, filled with a melting pot of cultures and races, amidst cafes and hawker stalls that contributed to turning the island into a beloved destination for foodies, HABIB soon spread its wings beyond Penang. Under the helm of our founder's son, Dato’ Sri Meer Sadik Habib, the company’s retail business soon flourished. We opened our first shop outside of Penang in Kuala Lumpur and quickly gained a loyal following.

The brand’s growing popularity beckoned the need for more showrooms and the decision was made to raise funds through a listing exercise. HABIB had evolved from a family business to become Habib Corporation Berhad, making history as the country’s first public listed jeweler in 1998. Several years later, the company was taken private after a strategic corporate exercise.

Today we are proud to be one of the country’s premier jewelers; a multi-award winning brand that appeals to different walks of life.

With a reputation for quality and world-class designs, we believe in valuing tradition even as we embrace the contemporary. Enhancing value for the customer is a priority for us, and as a result, we have earned the trust of customers near and far.

It should come as no surprise that HABIB’s core values, which began in the early days of the founder, still resonate today. The core values touch the lives of our management and employees alike, professionally and personally, creating an extended HABIB family that takes pride in providing warm, personalized service to a wide spectrum of customers.

HABIB's clientele is diverse in background and geographic location, ranging from Malaysia and other parts of Asia including Dubai, Indonesia, Brunei, Singapore, and Hong Kong to the US and Europe.

With more than 55 years of rich history, we are committed to scaling new heights for our customers. To satisfy our customers’ growing desire for diamonds, we have brought the world's most perfectly cut stone from the US called Hearts On Fire, into our showrooms. In 2011, the HABIB Group set the market ablaze with the world-famous, hand-finished charm jewellery byPandora from Denmark. We didn’t stop there. 2014 is the year that HABIB became the sole distributor of the funky, affordable luxury watch brand Ice-Watch from Belgium. The HABIB Group has over the years also entered into several local ventures, namely Chantique, Islamic pawnbroking Ar Rahnu and Habib Hotel.

As the HABIB brand continues to evolve, we will uphold our core values in all we do. This includes cultivating a fair and satisfying work environment that will nurture our people so they can evolve alongside with us. Giving back to society is a vital part of our existence and through Yayasan Habib, we strive to make a difference where we can.

Just like the fast-changing world, we will keep pace by being nimble footed in the jewelry and fashion market, by being responsible in how we source our materials and most importantly, by being honest and sincere in how we engage with our precious customers.
