Dr Tan Teck Sin was our gynae/ob and I am a first time mom. We were warned that his bedside manners are not good, but hes very experienced in high risk pregnancies. I have high blood pressure, and that is why we decided to place our trust in him. He always answered our questions, although it is true if you ask some silly questions he might give a curt answer (but we took them well and had a laugh at what he said later cos we knew that is how he is), but hes a very busy man, and very focused in his work. But after hes checked me and had a look at baby, before we left his clinic he ALWAYS asked with a smile Any other questions?. He sees a lot of people. He does not have time to hold your hand, assure you everything is fine, and chit chat with you and have a giggle over your cute baby scans. If you want a doctor like that go find someone else. He was also very considerate. His charges are reasonable compared to other gynaes, and when I was delivering they did not use the belt to check for contractions cos you have to pay for using it and even the paper coming out of the machine, so the nurse had to come in often to check on me. I asked the nurse why he does not use it, and she said he does not like to unnecessarily charge people for things. I have also seen him many times for check ups, there were around 3 4 visits they were real fast for only a few minutes, and he did not charge me at all! I just had to pay for the hospital admin fee, that 5 bucks for taking my file out. How about that? Hes not out there to make money from you! After he had delivered my baby, he was very focused on getting the job done, and when the baby was out, he was sewing me up and he was relaxed and chatty and was joking with the nurses and people in the room. He does have a lighter side to him. He does smile. His stitching is also very good. Testimonies from friends, and some bloggers, and myself too of course! And I have quite a number of friends who saw him, and when I chat with strangers about gynaes and all that, I found out there were so many of them who used him, and they all said hes good, or he wouldnt have all these patients waiting to see him, and he wouldnt be recommended by so many people.
