马大脑神经外科及脊椎专科顾问盛晓峰在"关心父母亲的腰酸背痛"讲座上表示，"你会发现有些过于佝偻驼背的长者，身体往前倾，造成脊椎不协调，且行动缓慢，他们只能用拐杖支撑。在诊断方面，我们会耐心聆听病患的倾诉，就可听到病人健康问题，因此彼此的互动很重要。"他透露，病人会自然提到某一个部位疼痛或酸软麻痹、手臂酸痛而抬不起来、因双手无力导致洗衣后拧不干，甚至没有办法晒衣，他也会告诉你他穿衣服时钮扣扣不上或失禁。他说，在体检方面，医生必须观察长者站立和走路的姿势，包括走路时使用拐杖、脚步蹒跚、步伐不平稳、走路时双脚张得很开以平衡身体。做完体检后，接下来就是进行断层扫描。
