On 24 Dec 2014 news broke that parts of East Coast of Malaysia were inundated by floodwaters. This was no ordinary flood. In over a week, over half a million people had to be rescued from the floodwaters as entire villages had been wiped out overnight. Almost as soon as the floodwaters receded, the country reacted in an unprecedented way. Among friends and family members, calls and messages were exchanged, we collected cash, food, clothes and other essentials and those who could, immediately volunteered and attached ourselves to the nearest relief groups.
