List of Nephrologists in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor

A nephrologist is a medical doctor who studies and handles nephrology. Nephrology is a medical study for the kidneys and diseases related to it. So, a nephrologist has to deal with diagnosis and management of kidney diseases. Nephrologists are also called kidney doctors.

Kidney disorders include:

• Acute renal failure, a sudden loss of renal function
• Chronic kidney disease (CKD), declining renal function, usually with an inexorable rise in creatinine.
• Haematuria, blood in the urine
• Proteinuria, the loss of protein especially albumin in the urine
• Kidney stones, usually only recurrent stone formers.
• Chronic or recurrent urinary tract infections
• Hypertension that has failed to respond to multiple forms of anti-hypertensive medication or could have a secondary cause
• Electrolyte disorders or acid/base imbalance
• Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD)

The nephrologist usually works in conjunction with Urologists who deals with the surgical aspects of kidney disease and diseases of the bladder, ureters and urethra. That’s the reason the list of urologist and nephrologist are together in here.
